Well I just remembered I can look on your blog for details on the final and learned that I luckily mamaged to upload before the due time. Yay! Bad news is I can’t upload to the temp folder as I am no longer in Austin. Please let me know what I can do to allieviate this matter?

I woke up at 6AM this moring to drive to Austin. Before that though, I decided to try the Pirate Bay one last time and was fortunate enough to “aquire” what I needed, within 5 hours of downloading. At around noon I was FINALLY able to begin working again on my project. I have spent the entire day drawing my characters frame-by-frame upon their guide layers, but unfortunately had to scrap the third scene for time constraints. I also, to my dislike, scrapped the idea of lip synching and so none of the characters were drawn with mouths. After fiddiling with After Effects and getting it to work, I worked on making a moving background with greenscreen. After that failed I just turned down the opacity on my solid layer so that you see a youtube clip playing in the background. I also couldn’t make any special effects for when Dora summons her map and monkey to fight as the particle systems which I wanted to use seemed to overwrite my .SWF movie. In the end I am left with an incomplete project that I’m pretty sure is late anyway but I figure I’ll take what I can get. If anything I’ve learned that summer school is very hard.

On Saterday morning I began searching for ways to “aquire” Flash and After Effects since I was no longer able to use the labs. After many failed attempts to find the correct versions I decided to download trial versions of both and finish my project before Sunday. Alas, my internet connection is not the fastest, as downloading both trials would have taken between 15-23 hours each. I resigned myself to drive back up to Austin Sunday morning and not leave the labs until I was done.

I began by spending all Wednsday drawing guide layers in flash thinking I would be done by Thursday afternoon. I was wrong. In fact I didn’t finish all the guides until Friday morning. The three scenes I had created were an intro with the characters coming on stage, then the first round, and finally the second round. I was thiking of using keylite in After Effects to create a moving background for the fight. Finishing the guide layers by Friday moring, while not what I schedueled, wasn’t so much of a problem as I figured making the actuall characters simply follow the guides would be fast. Again, I was wrong. Given more time I could have finished creating the characters, but I also had to move back home on Friday and had to spend the rest of the day moving.

Ok I know I had to do these over the week, but as usual I am doing it at the last minute. Anyway, to start I’ll talk about my pre-production. I originally had an idea about using greenscreen and animating a little creature within it the movie to interact with the character. By Wednsday however I scrapped that idea and instead came up with a SSBB type of project between Jason from the Friday series and Dora the Explorer. My original idea was to have three scenes with special effects for summons and synced voices. This would also help take care of my final project in Geoff’s class as well.

This is my greenscreen/motion tracking assignment. I’m not sure how to get rid of the image layer at the beginning of the clip, otherwise I don’t see any MAJOR problems.
